From Fusion to Motion: Dr. Joel S. Beckett Presented Restorative Motion Surgery Concepts at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute Spine Symposium
When a cervical fusion fails, the traditional assumption has often been that another fusion is the only solution.
At the Hoag Orthopedic Institute Spine Symposium, I presented my experience with restorative motion surgery and the use of cervical disc replacement in select patients with failed fusion or pseudoarthrosis. For appropriately selected patients, restoring motion may represent an alternative to extending or repeating a fusion procedure.
